German Chamomile is an effective pain relieving oil when selected due to it's ability to inhibit Cox-2 - the enzyme which is partially responsible for the inflammatory and pain response. It is particularly useful in that unlike Wintergreen and Birch, German Chamomile inhibits only Cox-2 (as opposed to both Cox-1 and Cox-2) thus the stomach lining remains protected.
