The Hawthorn herb is known to have a positive influence on the circulatory system and its associated blood flow, pressure and heart rate. The constituents responsible for this are the diverse range of flavanoids that have the effect of dilating peripheral blood vessels such as is required in cases of Navicular syndrome.
Hawthorn (also known as Whitethorn) can commonly be found in hedgerows and has much mythology associated with it. It is considered the tree of the Fairy's and indeed they are often found surrounding the Fairy Forts here in Ireland.
