Burdock Root pieces (Arctium lappa)
Dogs and Horses may select Burdock Root pieces when presenting with the following symptoms:
- Chronic and acute infections
- Inflammatory conditions
- Liver toxicity
- Skin issues
Burdock is a useful herb to offer for septic conditions - particularly those that are chronic. This is due to its ability to disperse the build up of toxins.
Always offer a herb alongside Burdock that aids in the expulsion of waste products (such as cleavers and nettle) to facilitate the cleansing.

Fun fact!
The hook system developed by the burdock plant in order to disperse it's seeds was the inspiration for Velcro. The swiss inventor George de Mestral became curious about the seeds of the burdock plant that had attached themselves to his clothes and to the dog's fur. Under a microscope, he looked closely at the hook system that the seeds use to hitchhike on passing animals aiding seed dispersal, and he realized that the same approach could be used to join other things together. His work led to the development of the hook & loop fastener, which was initially sold under the Velcro brand name.
