Journeying Guidelines
Ideally record your journey on your phone or an MP3/4 player. (You can listen to the drum recording on headphones from the link above this text) As you experience the journey speak it outloud and when you have finished Journeying, listen back and write it down. If a recording device is unavailable please take time afterwards to write the Journey down in as much detail as possible. This is a very powerful way of grounding the Gifts and Power received from the Journey and noting any information received during your Journey.
Rattling around animals in stables and in the home is possible and something that you may feel guided to do. Just be mindful that animals can be very sensitive to energy shifts as well as the unusual noise of rattles. If you need more guidance on this aspect please contact me and I will be happy to help. - Intention: What is your intention? Ensure your intention is for the highest good and of a wholesome nature (Eg perhaps not asking for Show Champion at Crufts or the RDS ;) ) Remember - the Spirits are there to support you not replace common sense. No amount of rattling is going to fix an ill-fitting saddle or be a subtitute for a walk in the park with your dog! Your intention should be clear about what you are asking for: Advice and Guidance? Healing or Help? Power?
- If you are asking for healing for another being you will need their permission. When wishing to work with an animal that can not affirm permission verbally, ask with your voice and your mind. In my experience animals very much feel and understand intention. You will know if it's a possibility by the response of the rattles and your Spirit Helper and also if the animal in question shows up! Always be guided by your Spirit Helper and your animal on this matter
- Mission: Take time to formulate your mission (only one) and write it down - keep it simple. Maybe sit with it a while, how does it feel? Be prepared to be flexible - your spirits might feel an adjustment is required once you start rattling!

- Park your Mission in your heart - try not to turn it into a mantra during the Journey
- Be well rested and in a space where you can relax and not be disturbed. Have your rattle and drum recording ready to go and if you feel appropriate create an altar
- Working with the Spirit of your rattle, be open to connection whilst calling in your Spirits through song, dance and rattling. Be in a place of surrender and receiving
- Try to remain present and stay connected with your Spirit Helper throughout until the drums call you back - sometimes the Spirits can give you a gem of information at the last minute. It's ok if you disconnect, or get stuck or your mind get's in the way - just repeat your mission, breath and return to where you were in the journey before your mind got in the way/became disconnected/got stuck
- Release expectations, try to go with the flow, no need to understand what you are feeling, sensing or seeing during the journey, just try to surrender
- Engage with the Spirits - if you are not sure about something or are looking for clarity, ask them. If you need help to continue in the journey - ask them! They are there for you
- Be open to practical information such as 'I am scared when you leave me on my own', or 'I dont like my stable mate!' Or even, 'I love you grooming me - spend more time with me'
- Remember, the Spirits do the healing, not you ;)
- Dont forget to thank your Spirit Helpers before you come back to the the 'Ordinary' reality as the Drums call you back
Unlocking the Power of the Journey, grounding and bringing the gift of healing or wisdom home to this reality
- Write down your journey in as much detail as you can
- The Power is where the felt experience is in the journey. Underline those places while you write up your Journey. So if you saw/felt/heard things that made you feel elated, scared, sad or joyful - underline those parts. Also if the Spirits communicated anything directly write that down too. Or if you got a sense of something write that down - not every journey has imagery or direct communication
- Take all the parts that are underlined and collate them at the end of the write up of your Journey. This is the essence and the key learnings of the Journey
- Your mission is the key to unlocking the Power and message/gift of the Journey:
How do you feel about what this journey is showing you?
How can you bring the teaching/wisdom/help you are being shown on the journey into your daily life?
- Every journey is unique and every journey is perfect as it is. It is human to sometimes feel disappointed or feel that you wanted something different but the Spirits will bring you what you need, not neccessarily what you think you need or want (although happily sometimes this can be the same!)
- Return a few days later and reread your journey - more insights may be revealed
- Be aware of any changes you may feel opening in your life and way of Being. Also be open to any deeper learning that may appear
