St John's Wort macerate (Hypericum perforatum) Organic


​Horses may select St John's Wort macerate when presenting with the following symptoms:

  • Anxiety
  • Blood disorders - particularly viruses
  • Depression
  • Chronic pain
  • Nerve pain - particularly tooth pain or pain in nerve rich areas
  • Nervous system conditions - epilepsy, ataxia
  • Sarcoids

 St John's Wort is well known in the world of herbs for its ability to alleviate depression due to its hypericin and hyperforin content. It is also extremely effective as an analgesic for chronic and acute nerve pain particularly in nerve rich areas such as in the mouth.

WARNING Studies on humans has shown St John's Wort reduces the effectiveness of drugs when taken concurrently. Whilst no similar studies or research has been carried out on equines it is wise to be cautious and prevent your horse  ingesting St John's Wort macerate whilst on medication.
